With the weather we’ve had in Washington lately it is hard to believe, but my calendar tells me that spring is on the horizon. I am more than ready for sun and warm days and a green garden. It is also time to start planning for Easter. This idea is perfect for giving little treats. It is easy to make the bunny from a brown paper bag, and it is a good craft project for kids, too. The ‘Easter Treat for SomeBunny Sweet’ gift tags may be downloaded free using the form at the bottom of this post.
Materials:
Printer (you may also bring the PDF to a copy store near you–I used Fed Ex)
Scissors
Large Gift Tag Punch
White Cardstock
Hole Punch
Baker’s Twine
Brown Paper Bag
White Yarn
Fork
Glue
STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags
Download the PDF using the link at the bottom of this page. Save it to your hard drive or a thumb drive. The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with eight tags on a page.
For paper, use a bright white cardstock. If you do not have a printer, you can also just have them printed at an office store local to you.
Once you are ready, print as many sheets as you need.
STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags
The tool you need to make these tags is a large tag punch. I used this punch that I bought on Amazon. It has a pretty scalloped design at the top. Roughly cut the tags with scissors to remove excess border as needed. Insert your paper and flip the punch over so that you can center the design inside the frame. Then just press down.
Punch a hole for the string at the top of each tag using your small hole punch.
STEP 3 Make Bunny Tail
Wrap the yarn around the tines of a fork as shown in photo, then cut. Cut another piece of yarn several inches long and tie it perpendicularly around the yarn loops, between the center tines. Slide the yarn off the fork, and then cut the loops. Fluff with your fingers, and then trim around the pompom with scissors. You can also buy pompoms already made, such as these.
STEP 4 Trim Bag
Cut a V shape from the top of your paper bag, to create the bunny ears.
STEP 5 Bag
Put your ‘sweet’ gift into the bag. If you are looking for ideas, Harry and David has some lovely Easter treats this year. Bunch the neck of the bag together, and then wrap baker’s twine around it a couple of times. Tie your tag to the bag.
Glue the pompom to the lower center of the bag, to complete your Easter bunny. Have a wonderful Easter!
