Birthdays are on my mind this weekend. I wanted to do a design that was simply fun, and what is more festive than a frosted, sprinkle covered, rainbow layer cake? These free printable birthday gift tags feature my original drawing of a rainbow cake slice. They read “happy birthday” and “make a wish.” Use them to decorate wrapped birthday presents, or for favor treat bags. I sized the printables for use with the Fiskars Tag Maker. The gift tags may be downloaded free at the end of this post.
STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags
Download the PDF using the email form at the end of this page and save it. The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with eight tags on a page.
For paper, use a bright white cardstock. If you do not have a printer, you can also just have them printed at an office store local to you. Once you are ready, open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader and then print as many sheets as you need.
STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags
The tool you need to make these tags is the Fiskars large tag punch. Roughly cut the tags with scissors to remove excess border as needed. Insert your paper and flip the punch over so that you can center the design inside the frame. Then just press down.
Then, turn the punch over and insert the tag into the smaller slot to make a hole for the twine.
STEP 3 Attach Tags
I used a brown paper sack for my gift. I folded down the top and tied blue and white baker’s twine around the top. I used small clothespins to hold it together.
