Back to School Free Printable Gift Tags

Sigh. It is already August. Even though it has been decades since I have headed back to school, I still feel a little bit of anxiety when August 1 comes. The feeling of slight dread that summer will be over soon, crossed with the heat, can really wear me down. I decided to lean into it, and designed some tags for the people who are returning to the classroom. These are perfect for gifts from the teacher to students, or the other way around. They have a picture of a pencil and read “a little something to start your year off write.” Tie to any gift. The printable gift tags may be downloaded free at the bottom of this post.

Materials:

Printer
Scissors
2.5 Inch Paper Punch
Small Hole Punch
White Cardstock

STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags

Download the PDF using the link at the bottom of this page. Save it to your hard drive or a thumb drive. The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with nine tags on a page.

For paper, use a bright white cardstock. If you do not have a printer, you can also just have them printed at an office store local to you. Once you are ready, open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader and then print as many sheets as you need.

STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags

I used a circle paper punch to cut out the tags. First, trim the white border to allow you to insert the sheet and center. Flip your punch over, so that you can see the design inside the frame. Then just press down. Use your small, quarter inch punch to create a hole for the ribbon at the top of the tag.
