Receiving a St. Patrick’s Day gift is unexpected. Whenever a friend gives me a little present or card I did not anticipate, my thoughts immediately fly to how lucky I am to have that thoughtful person in my life. I designed these tags with the unanticipated gift in mind. You can make a bunch of these green and black “Have a Lucky St. Patrick’s Day” shamrock tags in minutes, and tie to little bags of chocolate or any treat. They are perfect for teachers, classmates at school, friends, or St. Patrick’s Day party favors. You may get your free printable gift tags at the bottom of this page.
Materials:
Printer (you may also bring the PDF to a copy store near you–I used Fed Ex)
White Cardstock
Scissors
3.5 inch Hole Punch
Small Hole Punch
Baker’s Twine
Cellophane Treat Bags
Chocolate Gold Coins, or your favorite treat!
STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags
Download the PDF using the link at the bottom of this sheet. Save it to your hard drive or a thumb drive. The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with four circle tags on a page.
For paper, use a white cardstock. If you do not have a printer, you can also have them printed at Fed Ex, Staples or an office store local to you.
Once you are ready, print as many sheets as you need.
STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags
The tool you need to make these gift tags is an extra large circle punch. This design is compatible with a 3.5 inch circle. I used this punch that I bought on Amazon and I love it. It is so easy to use.
First, cut the tags roughly using scissors, leaving only a slight white border on the side you insert into the punch. They don’t need to be straight as you will be cutting them again with the punch. Next, insert your sheet and flip the punch over so that you can center the design inside the frame. Then just press down.
You now have a perfect circle. Use your small hole punch to create a hole in the top of each, just above the shamrock. You will use this to tie your tag to your gift.
STEP 3 Package the Treats
I used cellophane bags to package my treats. Fill the bags with any sweet treat, such as chocolate gold coins.
I wrapped green baker’s twine around the top of the bag, and ran it through the hole of the tag. I then tied a simple bow.
I hope you, too, have a lucky St. Patrick’s Day!
