I am always am looking for cute gift wrapping ornaments, and if it is something I can create quickly and inexpensively, all the better. These pom poms can be made up so easily, and they really make a package stand out. All you need is two toilet paper rolls, yarn, scissors, and a wire hair brush, and you are ready to start.
Materials:
Scissors
Yarn
Toilet Paper Rolls (2)
Brush
STEP 1 Wrap Yarn
Holding the toilet paper rolls together with one hand, wrap the yarn around them with your other hand. The more you wrap, the fluffier your pom pom will be.
STEP 2 Tie
When you are finished wrapping, cut the yarn of the roll. Then, cut another piece about a foot long. Run the yarn between the rolls, and tie once in center. Gently slide the yarn off the toilet paper rolls, holding tight to the ends of the knot you just tied. After the yarn is off the rolls, wrap the ends of the tied piece around the center a couple more times, and tie tightly.
STEP 3 Cut
Cut through the loops on both sides.
STEP 4 Fluff and Trim
Brush the yarn with a wire hair brush (a pet or human brush will work here) until it is fluffy. Then, trim the pom pom so that the ends are the same length.
STEP 5 Tie to package
Pom poms are fabulous accents to any gift wrapped package. I added mine to this gift I had previously wrapped with my free printable tags. You can also use these pom poms to create garlands and loads of other festive decorations. Happy holidays!
Love! I so want to make a Pom Pom garland for the tree this year! May have to find something to make smaller ones though. Hrmm
I bet it will be beautiful. A fork would work great for small ones!
