Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and if you are like me you are looking for ideas to make the holiday extra special. To help you create your tablescapes, I created these place cards using simple tags with a calligraphy font. I tied mine to delicata squash. You can also use any kind of gourds, leaves, or acorns. The free printable tags may be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Materials:
Printer (you may also bring the PDF to a copy store near you)
Paper Cutter
Scissors
Hole Punch
Card Stock
Ribbon or Twine
Gourds, Squash or Pumpkins
STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags
Download the PDF using the link at the bottom of this sheet. Save it to your hard drive or a thumb drive. The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with eight tags on a page.
The PDF is editable. Open it on your computer in Adobe Acrobat Reader (the form feature only works in Adobe, even though it will open in other applications.) If you do not already have it, Adobe Reader is a free download. Click inside the blue highlighted areas, and type the names of your guests. Save the file.
For paper, use a card stock in a light color. I always say paper is a personal preference, so if you are not sure, go to the store and check out the selection. That said, you are not going to see a huge difference, and will likely be happy with any number of papers you can find on Amazon. I used this paper. If you do not have a printer, you can also just have them printed at Fed Ex or an office store local to you. The cost is usually about a dollar per sheet, and many vendors will also cut them for you.
Once you are ready, print as many sheets as you need.
STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags
I prefer to use a paper cutter when I am cutting out tags, as it is easier to get the corners perfectly square using the guides. If you don’t have a paper cutter, however, you can also use scissors.
After your tags are cut out, cut the corners with scissors.
STEP 3 Punch Holes
Using a small hole punch, create a hole in the top center.
STEP 4 Tie the Tags
I used a delicata squash for my place cards. However, you can also use little pumpkins or gourds, or colorful leaves. Or, if you want something you can use year after year, try these adorable white pumpkin decorations or these acorns. Tie your tags to the gourds using your favorite ribbon or twine.

I am unable to change to font in the PDF format.
Hi Deborah, Thanks for reading my blog. I designed these with the preferred typeface embedded. However, if you use Adobe Reader, you will be able to change it by clicking in the space, and then clicking cmd-E (Mac) or ctrl-E (windows) to bring up the properties window.
