Indian corn party favor with Reese's Pieces

When I was 8 years old, E.T. was released. Movies were a bigger deal back then, and I still remember how excited my siblings, cousin, and I were to go see it that summer. The star’s favorite candy soon became mine, and I adore Reese’s Pieces to this day. They come in a fall color palette, making them perfect for Thanksgiving favors and gifts. This fun tutorial turns them into Indian corn. The free printable tags may be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

Materials:

Color Printer (you may also bring the PDF to a copy store near you)

STEP 1 Download and Print Your Tags

Download the PDF using the link at the bottom of this sheet.  Save it to your hard drive or a thumb drive.  The PDF is a letter size, 8.5×11 inch sheet, with eight tags on a page.

For paper, use a card stock in a light color.  I always say paper is a personal preference, so if you are not sure, go to the store and check out the selection.  That said, you are not going to see a huge difference,  and will likely be happy with any number of papers you can find on Amazon.  I used this paper. If you do not have a printer, you can also just have them printed at Fed Ex or an office store local to you.  The cost is usually about a dollar per sheet, and many vendors will also cut them for you.

Once you are ready, print as many sheets as you need.

STEP 2 Cut Out Your Tags

I prefer to use a paper cutter when I am cutting out tags, as it is easier to get the corners perfectly square using the guides.  I have the Purple Cows 12-Inch Two-In-One Scrapbook Combo Trimmer and I love it.  It has both the guillotine and the rotary trimmer, with lots of blades for different trims such as a wavy edge. If you don’t have a paper cutter, however, you can also use scissors.

After your tags are cut out, cut the corners with scissors.

STEP 3 Punch Holes

Using a small hole punch, create a hole in the top center.

STEP 4 Make the husk

Cut about 10 strips of kraft paper, and tie them together using a piece of string or the tie that came with your bags.

STEP 5 Fill the Bags

Fill the cellophane bag with Reese’s Pieces, then place your ‘husk’ into the bag so that the tied end is hidden by the candy. Tie the end together with twine, and attach the tag.  Trim the bag if there is too much at the end.

  1. These are adorable! I’m doing a drive-by thanksgiving dinner for my family and I’m going to include one of these with each platter. Such a sweet reminder that even though we can’t be together like normal, we still have plenty reasons to be thankful . Thank you so much for sharing!
