How to Make Honey-Drizzled Snow Cream

Snow Cream in a Yellow Bowl

When life hands you a furlough and a snowstorm in the same week, what can you do but make Snurlough cream? There is nothing so capable of compounding the boredom-inducing government shutdown than an old-fashioned blizzard. It kept me home bound for all of Sunday, but on Monday I was determined to get out. I decided to go for a walk and run some errands. About 5 minutes into my stroll, I narrowly missed being hit by an ice chunk about twice my size falling off a tall building. I was shaken, but finished my walk. I started texting my cousin, Scarlett, to share the tale of my non-adventure. She suggested I make snow cream, and sent me a recipe. I had none of the ingredients, other than lots and lots of snow, so I made up my own recipe instead. And I must say, it was delicious. If you have any snow left, you should try it, too.

My Recipe for Snow Cream

Ingredients

4 Cups Snow
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Half & Half
1 TBSP Honey (plus extra for drizzling over snow cream)
1 TSP Vanilla
2/3 Cup Powdered Sugar

(Quantities are Approximates–Adjust to Taste)

Ingredients for Snow Cream

Instructions

  1. Mix together all ingredients, except for the snow.
  2. Pour milk mixture over snow.
  3. Stir until it resembles ice cream.
  4. Spoon into ice cream bowls.  Drizzle with honey and serve immediately.

Pouring Milk and Sugar Mixture Over Snow

Yum.
